WWE, WCW, and ECW veteran Dean Malenko is now officially part of AEW.
Malenko, who had been working as a producer for the WWE for the past decade, quit in April this year. Rumors were rampant that he was heading to AEW, especially after he was reported to be part of Starrcast II mere days after quitting.
AEW announced Malenko’s joining the company in a press release sent out on May 24. According to the release, Malenko has signed a multi-year deal with AEW and will be taking the role of Senior Producer/Coach.
“It’s not often you get an opportunity late in your career to be a part of building something from the ground floor,” Malenko is quoted as saying.
“The freedom to be able to contribute uninhibited will only lend itself to foster creativity and produce an outstanding product. I’m excited about what the future holds for AEW, and I can’t wait to be a part of the journey,” he said.
