<p>The Universal title match at Crown Jewel seemed like another rewrite of every other Lesnar fight where fans were expecting him to finally lose as his contract was over again only for him to win yet another title.</p>



<p>This isn’t great but what makes the whole thing an absolute mess is the way in which Strowman lost. It was a squash match and here are 3 possible reasons why Strowman did not win the championship like everyone expected.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>WWE brass are unsure about his potential</strong></h2>

<p>As fans, it is frustrating to see yet another wrestler who deserves to be in the lead being pushed down for a part-timer who barely shows up, let alone defend his title.</p>



<p>Some reports suggest that WWE weren’t very keen on this at first but Roman’s unexpected sabbatical forced them to come to a decision and they went for what was familiar to them.</p>



<p>The original plan was to mould Strowman a bit more before putting the belt on him during which time Roman was supposed to be the champ. WWE just do not see Strowman as the guy who can carry the company, at least not yet and in their eyes, Lesnar represents a more secure champion who despite his sporadic appearances can garner more mainstream attention.</p>







<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Brock Lesnar forced WWE’s hand</strong></h2>

<p>All the talk surrounding the title match was centered on the fact that Lesnar’s contract was up and that he wasn’t going to renew in favor of a UFC contract that would see him fight for the UFC heavyweight title somewhere around WrestleMania season next year.</p>



<p>WWE were also okay with him leaving as they wanted to move forward with Roman Reigns. All that changed with Roman’s cancer relapsing and suddenly WWE needed a bonafide champion. They were willing to sweeten the pot and it is believed that apart from the lucrative amount of money involved, Lesnar also had the clause of him becoming the champion added to the contract negotiations.</p>



<p>There is also a talk of a combined UFC-WWE pay-per-view where the UFC champion would take on the WWE champion which could be incredibly profitable for both organizations. UFC has been doing record PPV sales of late while WWE has been floundering and such a partnership could be what WWE needs to gain more audience.</p>



<p>This is pure speculation though but the brass from both sides are already believed to be in talks.</p>







<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>It was a disciplinary action</strong></h2>

<p>This is the most depressing reason that has been suggested for Strowman not winning and that is because of <strong><a href="https://api.wrestlingworld.co/news/backstage-heat-on-braun-strowman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the heat he has generated for himself backstage</a></strong>. While this might have seemed ludicrous until the Crown Jewel PPV, the way he lost the match actually supports this claim.</p>



<p>Strowman was essentially squashed by Lesnar as all Strowman did was get one offensive move in and kick out of four F5s which while being impressive was far too humiliating a loss.</p>



<p>The reason WWE brass is so upset with Strowman is because he has been described as having become very arrogant and unprofessional due to a sense of entitlement. He often leaves the arenas before the show is over and has even turned up late to many events as per reports.</p>



<p>Apparently, WWE did try talking to him but that did not help and Crown Jewel was used as a teaching moment for the monster among men.</p>
