5 Possible Opponents For The New Universal Champion Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman defeated Goldberg to win his first-ever World title in WWE, after spending five years on the main roster and being a part of several failed attempts. The Monster Among Men challenged Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns but couldn’t come out on top.

Strowman was a last-minute replacement for Reigns at WrestleMania and ended up dethroning the Hall of Famer, which was possibly the plan for the Big Dog.

With Strowman winning, WWE has to completely change the plans they had for the Universal title, and it will be interesting to see how they handle the change from Reigns to Strowman.

We look at five possible superstars who could step up against The Monster Among Men and find themselves in the main event.

5. Sheamus

SmackDown lacks top heels on the roster, and the Irish Superstar joined the brand a few months ago looking to position himself among the top bad guys on the brand. Since his return, Sheamus has been unbeaten, taking down the likes of Apollo Crews and Shorty G.

Sheamus is a former World Champion himself, and his experience could be useful for a short feud against Strowman. It will be a fresh rivalry and will allow a new name to crop up into the main-event picture.

4. Randy Orton

Randy Orton is currently on the RAW brand, while Strowman has just become the top guy on the opposite show. However, since the last three years, post-WrestleMania shows have been the start of Superstar Shakeup, and WWE would like to continue that tradition.

With the shakeup, WWE will want to have more heels on the blue brand, which could mean the transfer of the Viper over on Friday nights. Randy Orton vs Braun Strowman is once again a fresh, never-seen-before rivalry, and will help Strowman come into his own as a champion against the fourteen-time champion himself.

3. King Corbin

Corbin is arguably one of the best heels on the roster, and he is known to elevate all the babyfaces around him. His feud with Roman Reigns went on for a bit too long but Reigns consistently received tremendous reactions after beating up the King of the Ring winner.

Corbin in the title picture would make less sense due to him losing two feuds consecutively, but due to WWE’s lack of options, it would be the way to go for now.

Corbin shouldn’t come close to winning the title, but his work will definitely help Strowman become a better babyface champion.

2. Roman Reigns

Why? Because WWE wanted this to happen! Strowman could end up being a mere filler Universal Champion as Reigns fights his way back to the championship. WWE advertised a Spear vs Spear match for WrestleMania, which could now take place at Summerslam. A person like Vince McMahon will be adamant to get Reigns vs Goldberg in any way possible, and handing him the title could be the way to go.

WWE has been building Reigns up for the title for over a year now, and his moment was ruined due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Once the dust settles, he will surely come back hunting for the strap.

Strowman vs Reigns was arguably the best rivalry WWE produced in the past few years, and a revisit of that would be a thrilling moment.

1. Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt loves digging up his past and bringing up individuals who wronged him in the past. Strowman was brought to WWE by Wyatt (in kayfabe) and spent a year as a member of the Wyatt Family.

Although Strowman never betrayed or hurt Wyatt, a Master vs Apprentice rivalry will be a solid story for the company. Wyatt had Strowman under his control in the past and will look to bring the Monster under his power once again.

Wyatt should have never lost the title in the first place, but this will be the right way to bring him back to the title picture.
