AEW Changes Next Week’s World Championship Eliminator Match as Rey Fenix Suffers Injury

All Elite Wrestling is currently airing an eight-man tournament to determine the No.1 contender for the AEW World Championship held by Jon Moxley.

Moxley will be defending the title against his former friend Eddie Kingston at Full Gear, and the winner of that match will face the winner of the ongoing tournament.

All the first round matches took place on the recent episode of Dynamite, with Fenix Jr, Kenny Omega, Hangman Page and Wardlow qualifying for the semi-finals.

However, AEW announced that Fenix suffered an injury on this week’s Dynamite during his match against his brother Penta El Zero M, and will forfeit his spot to his brother.

AEW put out a video on Twitter, with the current No.1 contender, Eddie Kingston, consoling his squad-member, and hyping up Penta’s match against Kenny Omega.

It is unclear what the injury is or the extent of the injury to the younger Lucha Bro. According to the latest reports, Fenix is said to be doing ok after many believing he could have suffered a neck injury.

Fenix landed on his head after an inverted top rope Frankensteiner, and was seen on the broadcast informing Penta and referee Aubrey Edwards that he hurt his neck. However, the match continued and Fenix picked up the win.

AEW taped the episode for next week, this week itself, and Dave Meltzer noted that it was Penta who wrestled Omega.
