All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view took place from the Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, FL, with some huge matches with high stakes attached to them. One of these matches was a Casino Ladder Match, which featured nine participants vying for an opportunity at the AEW World Championship.
The match had eight confirmed participants, and a mystery participant, who was revealed to be former IMPACT Champion Brian Cage. Cage was accompanied by AEW commentator and former WWE star Tazz, who will be managing him in AEW.
Cage had a great performance and had a major showdown with Luchasaurus. Cage ended up winning the match, which was AEW’s answer to WWE’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, and now Cage will be challenging Jon Moxley, who defeated Brodie Lee to retain his Championship.
Brian Cage was rumored to be joining the company after he left IMPACT earlier this year but has been out of action due to an injury he suffered back in January. Cage has been part of IMPACT for two years and worked extensively for Lucha Underground prior to that. Cage even had a stint with WWE in Florida Championship Wrestling but never made it to the main roster.
Cage isn’t the only superstar who became the No.1 contender at the Double or Nothing PPV. The Buy-In saw the Best Friends take on Private Party, with the winners getting a shot at Kenny Omega and Hangman Page, the AEW Tag Team Champions.
Best Friends, Chuck Taylor and Trent Baretta won the match, and will now challenge the two Elite members, on an unknown date. Best Friends have been a significant part of AEW programming recently, along with Orange Cassidy, and will be a major threat to Page and Omega, who already have cracks in their relationship.
With Brian Cage’s addition, AEW now has Brodie Lee, Lance Archer, Luchasaurus, and Cage as some ‘big’ names in the division, which was something they were criticized for in the past.
