AEW Dynamite: Abadon and Ricky Starks Make Their Debuts, Cody Rhodes Retain

All Elite Wrestling debuted two new faces on this week’s episode of taping as Abadon and Ricky Starks made their way to Jacksonville for an appearance on Dynamite.

Abadon, whose terrifying persona caught the fans off-guard during her appearance on AEW Dark in March, made her Dynamite debut in a squash victory over Anna Jay (who was making her return as well). It was later announced that Abadon has signed to a full-time contract with the company.

Abadon hasn’t worked for any major company prior to this and she is a hidden gem from a small promotion in Denver. AEW called her in during AEW Dark in Denver a few months ago, and she was able to catch the attention of the AEW brass.

With Kris Statlander and Britt Baker out due to injury, AEW is bringing in more stars for their Women’s Division.

Post-match, Anna Jay was helped to the back by the Dark Order, as the Exalted One Brodie Lee gave her a hand. Jay thanked Lee for the gesture on Twitter, and could possibly be a new member of the cult.

The Dark Order also handed out an envelope to Colt Cabana at ringside, who looked confused.

The second of the two scheduled title matches saw Cody Rhodes continue his streak of TNT Championship Open Challenge matchups, and his opponent for this week was former NWA Champion Ricky Starks.

Starks couldn’t dethrone the champion, but his performance earned him praise from Tony Khan, who announced his signing to the company on Twitter.

Starks became the NWA Television Champion earlier this year when NWA decided to bring back the iconic title after 29 years.
