During the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, aired on Saturday evening to give way to the NBA, the tag team FTR had a match with Private Party.
FTR didn’t walk out to the match alone; however, they were accompanied by the legendary Horseman Tully Blanchard. Blanchard is now FTR’s manager.
The FTR and Blanchard alliance seems to have sprung from an incident during the previous episode of Dynamite.
A segment aired called “Tag Team Appreciation Night” which featured Blanchard and his former tag team partner and fellow Horseman Arn Anderson. Blanchard and Anderson competed at the Brain Busters in the NWA and the then WWF.
Aside from the Brain Busters, tag team legends The Rock ‘N Roll Express were also featured. Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton also wrestled in the NWA and feuded with the Brain Busters. They also competed in WCW, WWE and TNA.
The legendary tag teams were joined in the ring by the newer teams of FTR and the Young Bucks. The veterans then gave their opinion on which of the younger teams were better. Blanchard stated that he couldn’t see tag team gold around either of their waists.
The segment ended with the veteran teams walking out of the ring and FTR attacking the Rock ‘N Roll Express. The act seems to have changed Blanchard’s mind about FTR.
According to Blanchard, he knows the path that FTR needs to follow to get the gold in AEW and FTR seems more than willing to follow along.
FTR will be involved in a Tag Team Gauntlet Match on the next episode of Dynamite along with The Young Bucks, The Natural Nightmares, and Best Friends.
The winner of that match will challenge the current AEW World Tag Team Champions Hangman Page and Kenny Omega during the All Out pay-per-view on September 5.
