AEW Dynamite Preview, July 29: Cody Defends TNT Title, MJF Set for State of The Industry Address

AEW World Tag Team Championship

Hangman Page and Kenny Omega (c) vs. Evil Uno and Stu Grayson: With just one loss to their names this year, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson will challenge Kenny Omega and Hangman Page for the AEW World Tag Team Championship on Dynamite.

A title change is very likely considering the recent tensions between Hangman and Omega, and tonight’s episode could finally witness The Cleaner turning on his partner.

Hikaru Shida vs. Diamante

Diamante’s victory over Ivelisse has earned her the opportunity to go 1-on-1 with reigning AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida in a non-title match. While the shiny strap won’t be on the line, nevertheless, it’s a splendid occasion for Diamante to prove that she might be the future of the business.

Tornado Tag Match | Darby Allin and Jon Moxley vs. Brian Cage and Ricky Starks

Multiple storylines will all collide tonight as Darby Allin teams up with Jon Moxley to take on the combined force of Brian Cage and Ricky Starks. It will be Moxley’s first tag team match since 2019 and the first multi-man bout in Starks’ AEW career.

Which team will emerge victorious tonight? Will tonight’s matchup be the beginning of an eventual Moxley/Cage/Allin Triple Threat AEW World Title showdown?

Best Friends, Orange Cassidy, Luchasaurus, and Jungle Boy vs. The Inner Circle

One match. Two sides. 10 men.

That’s’ pretty much the summary of the story here as Orange Cassidy joins forces with Best Friends, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus to battle Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Sanatana and Ortiz in a high-combustible 10-man brawl. Everyone involved in the matchup has some past history with one another, thus making tonight’s affair an extremely personal drama.

TNT Championship | Cody (c) vs. Warhorse

Cody will answer yet another Open Challenge tonight as he defends the TNT Championship against Warhorse. The EVP has defended the title six times in 66 days but tonight’s challenge is completely different from the ones he has faced to date.

The #CodyFearsWarhorse hashtag is what has made tonight’s title defense possible. According to AEW, Cody isn’t afraid of Warhorse and is ready to prove it by giving him a shot at the title this week. This isn’t just the biggest opportunity of Warhorse’s career – rather, tonight’s title shot is a make-or-break situation for the 27-year-old star. Will Warhorse “rule ass” tonight?

MJF to address the state of the industry

MJF will embrace the ring for a special State of The Industry address following his recent hashtag movement on Twitter. Through #NotMyChampion and #MJF2020, MJF has managed to convince fans that they deserve better than what they currently have, and as such, The Salt Of The Earth has taken up the responsibility to enlighten the millions tonight on Dynamite.
