Former WWE superstar Zack Ryder, now known as Matt Cardona, made his All Elite Wrestling debut on this week’s Dynamite.
Cardona, who was released along with plenty of other superstars in April, was under no-compete clause until last week. Cardona helped out his real-life good friend Cody, saving him from Dark Order’s attack.
Cody retained his TNT Championship over Warhorse and was immediately attacked by Dark Order’s Alex Reynolds and John Silver. Cardona made his entrance and hit his popular moves to make the save.
Cardona will make his in-ring debut next week, as he will team up with Cody to take on Silver and Reynolds. Cardona stayed in WWE for nearly fifteen years, winning the Intercontinental Championship, the United States Championship, and the tag-team titles.
Cardona wasn’t the only former WWE star recruited by AEW, as Cameron (Ariane Andrew) also made her Dynamite debut this week.
Cameron will team up with Nyla Rose in the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup. Cameron last appeared in wrestling in 2016, and was released from WWE along with several other superstars in May 2016.
The tournament will begin next Monday at 7 PM on AEW’s Youtube channel. Brandi Rhodes and Allie are also confirmed for the tournament, but it is unclear whether they will team up together.
