AEW Full Gear: Hikaru Shida Retains AEW Women’s Championship

AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida successfully defended her championship against the former champion Nyla Rose at Full Gear.

During the match, Rose’s manager Vickie Guerrero was able to hit Shida on the knee with a kendo stick. Shida seemed to be having issues with her right knee afterward but was able to prevail.

Shida recovered and was eventually able to hit several running kicks and face kicks on Rose which led to a successful pin attempt, allowing her to retain.

Aside from the kendo stick shot, Guerrero was constantly trying to help Rose gain the advantage by distracting the referee during the match. She was not happy that her efforts were not enough to allow Rose to gain the win.

Guerrero got in Rose’s face after she lost the match, yelling at her for not following the plan before eventually slapping her.

This win makes Shida the longest-reigning AEW Women’s Champion in history. She is the third woman to hold the title, winning it last May at Double or Nothing.

Shida actually won the title off of Rose, who is the second AEW Women’s Champion in history. Rose beat the inaugural champion Riho during an episode of Dynamite in February.
