AEW Postponing Blood and Guts Match, Will Continue To Hold Closed Shows At Jacksonville

While next Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite will push through, the special “Blood & Guts” match that was supposed to take place will no longer be happening on the show.

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan released a statement in which he said that the Blood & Guts match is being delayed as the timing and the circumstances were not right.

He stressed, however, that it was just postponed and it would still happen in the future. He also stated that AEW will still produce a great show and will continue to air weekly shows.

“We plan to continue answering that calling with live weekly shows every Wednesday night on TNT,” said Khan.

“What you can count on instead this coming Wednesday night is a great live episode of AEW Dynamite featuring Chris Jericho confronting Matt Hardy, face-to-face, one-on-one, for the first time ever and a tremendous night of wrestling action,” he added.

As part of their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, AEW has moved their shows from their original venues to the Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. They have been holding the shows on a closed-set and have said they will not be opening the shows to the regular crowd for the time being.

Ticketholders in the original venues for the show have been given the option to redeem their tickets or hold on to them as they will be valid once things are safer and AEW returns to the area.

Aside from the confrontation between Jericho and Hardy, the show is also supposed to feature a lumberjack match with MJF taking on Luchasaurus and a Parking Lot Brawl between the Best Friends and the Lucha Bros.
