AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida Reveals Her Goals for 2021

Current AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida has revealed an interesting set of 2021 goals on her Twitter account.

Shida is apparently hoping to expand her US media presence and maybe have a more visible role in AEW, as her first major goal is to do a “promo in the ring”.

AEW has faced some criticism for allegedly not placing much importance on their women’s division. One “example” critic point out to illustrate the point is how little television time the Women’s Champion gets unless she’s having a match.

Shida, as the current champion, has yet to have an in-ring promo and has had few backstage segments where she speaks. She won the AEW Women’s Championship back in May 2020 at Double or Nothing.

Shida’s other goals have to do with her YouTube projects, the MAKAI show, and the NEO IZANAHI series. NEO IZANAGI is a series that Shida stars in, that is available on the MAKAI Official YouTube Channel. MAKAI itself is a promotion that combines music and theater with wrestling.

Finally, Shida is hoping to see Benedict Cumberbatch, the star of Sherlock and Dr. Strange.

Shida’s next title defense is set for the first night of New Year’s Smash this January 6, where she will face Abadon.
