Aiden English is a former NXT Tag Team Champion, but ever since his long time partner Simon Gotch was released from the company following WrestleMania 33, he has struggled to find his footing on the main roster.

English found some solace alongside Rusev for a number of months while the duo were known as Rusev Day, a tag team that the WWE Universe was easily able to get behind, but the creative team decided that they wanted to take The Bulgarian Brute in a new direction without English which has left him in a rough position.

According to a report by WWE, English has been working alongside Michael Cole at the Performance Center over the past few weeks to see if he’s able to step into a commentary position and now it has been revealed that he will debut on the 205 Live roster replacing Percy Watson until around WrestleMania season.

Cole recently commented on the move, which could be a way for WWE to revitalize English’s career, in the same way that Austin Aries was added to commentary following his injury a few years ago.

“We wanted to do something special for WrestleMania season, and Royal Rumble week kicks off the Road to WrestleMania. We’ve been working with Aiden at the WWE Performance Center to see if he has the chops, and it turns out he’s pretty good,” he said via Ringsidenews.

It will be interesting to see how WWE push this move forward, but as far as his future goes, he is only 10 pounds over the weight needed to join the 205 Live division as a competitor, so if he is able to pick up a feud over the next few weeks then he could catapult himself into an interesting place in time for WrestleMania.
