“The Phenomenal” AJ Styles draws one of the heftiest paychecks in WWE with a full-time deal that’s expected to expire in/post-April 2019. The former WWE Champion has had a great stint with WWE since debuting at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in January 2016.
WWE’s current roster is bigger than it has ever been in the history of the company. With the upcoming hot “All Elite Wrestling” promotion rumored to go live by late 2019 or early 2020, WWE is currently aiming to lock down its top Superstars to prevent AEW from rattling its nest.
On PWInsider Elite audio, Mike Johnson revealed the expiration dates of a couple of gigantic Superstar contracts, Styles’ being one of them. It appears that AJ’s new WWE contract could see him getting a significant raise while locking him for 5 years in the company.
“WWE for some time has been trying to lock in talents to five-year deals. You know the one name that is out there is AJ Styles. His deal isn’t expected to expire until April and if he doesn’t wanna come to terms with WWE or if he wants to kinda look at going to another company and now just AEW, but Impact or Ring Of Honor or Lucha Underground or anybody he can use this to kinda nudge WWE to get a little more money he might not get otherwise although nobody isn’t going to argue AJ Styles deserves the biggest paycheck he can get.”
Given Styles has traveled the world and has been the top guy in every promotion he has stepped foot in, it would be hard for Vince McMahon to see P1 wrestling under the roof of a rival company.
It’s evident that Tony Khan‘s AEW will continue to target Styles no matter what the terms of his next WWE contract prove to be.
