AJ Styles Wants WWE Universe To Decide His Next Opponent

AJ Styles had a handsome run with Charlotte Flair at WWE Mixed Match Challenge Season 2. With Royal Rumble around the corner, both Superstars are now eyeing their respective Rumble matches to punch their main event tickets to WrestleMania 35.

It appears that The Phenomenal One is currently interested in allowing the WWE Universe to choose his opponent for WrestleMania.

The former WWE Champion revealed to Wrestle Zone that he is most interested in going 1-on-1 with latest NXT-call up, EC3

“You know I’ve never been in the ring with EC3 before so that’ll be fun to see, but there are several that are coming up through NXT I’m sure shortly and there’s a number of them that I could have amazing matches with.”

Despite the fact that both men are from TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, AJ and EC3 never had a chance to face each other.

“It isn’t up to me who I want to steal the show with, it’s up to the fans. Whatever they want, that’s what I wanna give them then I will steal the show with the opponent that they would like me to in the ring with.”

P1 lost the WWE Championship to heel Daniel Bryan prior to Survivor Series and it doesn’t seem like he would be getting a shot at the title anytime soon.

Despite holding the title for over a year and cementing himself as the guy to have worked the most WWE pay-per-view events in a row, Styles refuses to think of himself as a Superstar.

“You know I feel like there’s one more level that I need to reach before I really feel like a WWE Superstar. It’s really made a difference in just business. I’m not sure how I’m gonna get there. I’m gonna continue to work hard and see what happens next.”

Styles is set to compete in the 30-Man Royal Rumble match and although he is the fourth betting favorite (tied with The Rock) to win the bout, it’s unlikely that he would walk out of Phoenix as the victor for Seth Rollins is the brand new favorite to win the match on January 27.
