The case of former WWE superstar Alberto Del Rio, who was indicted last week in San Antonio, Texas for aggravated kidnapping, will go on trial next January.
PWInsider is reporting that Del Rio was assigned a date for his criminal trial on January 25, 2021.
Del Rio is charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping and four counts of sexual assault for his actions against a woman in San Antonio, back in May. Del Rio had been arrested on May 5, 2020, for threatening the woman, who he accused of being unfaithful, and her son.
The woman told police that Del Rio had physically and sexually assaulted her while keeping her captive. He had also threatened to drop her son off “in the middle of the road somewhere.”
In Texas, a conviction of aggravated kidnapping amounts to a fine and jail time, possibly life imprisonment.
If the accused is convicted in the first degree; that amounts to a jail sentence of 5 to 99 years and a fine of up to $10,000. If, however, the accused is convicted of aggravated kidnapping in the second degree that is a 2 to 20-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.
