Alexa Bliss steps in the ring this weekend to challenge Bayley for the SmackDown Women&#8217;s Championship at Stomping Grounds, in the first singles pay-per-view match that the former Women&#8217;s Champion has taken part in since Hell in a Cell 2018.



Bliss has had issues with concussions over the past few months which was one of the reasons why The Goddess was pulled from The Women&#8217;s Money in the Bank ladder match and replaced by Nikki Cross. Luckily, she has been able to remain on WWE TV in a personality role while the company has worked on clearing her to return to the ring.

Ahead of her match this weekend, Bliss spoke to <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label=" (opens in a new tab)" href="https://nypost.com/2019/06/21/alexa-bliss-was-very-worried-wwe-career-was-over-during-concussion-nightmare/" target="_blank">The New York Post</a> about her recent injury issues, where she revealed that she thought her career had come to an end due to her concussion problems.

There&#8217;s so many different types of concussions and I didn&#8217;t know that at the time. Each one had to be treated differently and the fact that I didn&#8217;t know what was going on with my brain and didn&#8217;t know until I saw the concussion specialist, it made me very scared,&#8221; she said via <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="WrestlingInc (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2019/06/alexa-bliss-on-being-worried-about-her-future-over-655474/" target="_blank">WrestlingInc</a>.</blockquote>

Bliss went on to explain that she visited a concussion specialist and this put her mind at rest because she was taught all about keeping her brain healthy. The Goddess also stated that she spoke to Daniel Bryan who has a lot of experience when it comes to brain injuries.

It made me feel like for the first time that I actually was in control of my own injury and actually well aware of what was going on in my brain and it made me feel so much better about returning to the ring because concussions are a scary thing.&#8221;</blockquote>
