Anna Jay Injured, Pulled From AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator Match

AEW’s Anna Jay is injured and has been pulled from the AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator Tournament.

On their Twitter, AEW reported that Jay, who was to face Dr. Britt Baker on the latest episode of the Women’s World Title Eliminator Tournament, was injured in training and would be unable to compete.

Instead, Baker will be facing Madi Wrenkowski, who is a student and protégé of Baker’s rival Thunder Rosa.

Jay also Tweeted about her injury saying she was “super upset” but would put in the work to come back stronger.

Jay’s injury involves her shoulder and she will need to undergo surgery to repair it. She is expected to be out of action for about 6 to 12 months. Jay’s injury reportedly resulted in her missing last week’s AEW tapings and she was also absent from this week’s Being the Elite.

Jay’s last match was on AEW Dark in mid-January, though she has stayed involved in backstage segments with her faction, The Dark Order. She has also accompanied her friend Tay Conti ringside for matches.

Conti will be in action on this week’s episode of the AEW Women’s Eliminator Tournament, facing Nyla Rose in a first-round match.

Aside from the Conti vs. Rose and Baker vs. Wrenkowski match, this week will also see two semi-final matches in the Japanese bracket.

The semi-finals of the Japanese bracket will feature Yuka Sakazaki vs. Emi Sakura and Ryo Mizunami vs. Aja Kong.
