The Royal Rumble takes place this weekend and could see the first match announced for WrestleMania 36 which takes place in April. The winner of the men and women’s Rumble matches will be given the choice of either Champion at WrestleMania, but given the fact that the brand split is in full effect again, it should be SmackDown stars going for the Universal Championship and RAW stars looking for the WWE Championship.
The fact that Brock Lesnar will be in the Royal Rumble match does confuse the situation somewhat, but it appears that whatever goes down in Texas on Sunday night, the WWE Universe won’t have long to wait for the fallout. The AT&T arena which is hosting next Monday’s episode of RAW has already announced that Brock Lesnar will be in attendance.
The arena has also gone on to report that the main event will see The Viking Raiders team up with Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens to take on Seth Rollins, Buddy Murphy and The Authors of Pain. Given that Rollins and Murphy took the Tag Team Championships this week, it was expected that The Viking Raiders would be on the opposite side of the ring hoping that if they pinned Rollins or Murphy then they would be granted a rematch.
The only other stars who have been announced for the show are Randy Orton and AJ Styles, who are expected to continue their current feud as they collide one-on-one.
There are so many things that could happen on Sunday night, Rollins, Murphy, Samoa Joe or even Kevin Owens could be the man to outlast 29 others in the annual Rumble match and be going on to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.
Nothing is set in stone as of yet, but it’s interesting that The Beast Incarnate is scheduled to be in attendance just hours after the first pay-per-view of the year.
