WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson made a surprise appearance at AEW All Out last weekend and delivered his iconic spine-buster to help out Cody win the match against Shawn Spears.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW pulled the trigger on the move at a time when it didn’t seem predictable. When Tully Blanchard was announced to be in Shawn Spears’ corner, it was widely assumed that Arn Anderson would appear alongside Cody. However, those thoughts didn’t amount to anything as MJF was chosen to be in Cody’s corner.
“The Arn Anderson spot was probably as hot as anything on the show. It was kind of interesting because Arn Anderson is from decades ago, but everyone knew. It’s like the minute he walked out everyone knew Arn Anderson because they all wanted it.”
“It’s a very interesting thing because people would have been disappointed with no Arn Anderson so they gave them MJF with the idea that they’re gonna go, ‘Oh, it’s not Arn’ and then they gave them Arn Anderson in the match I think that world very well.”
The segment involving ‘Double A’ was quite exciting as everyone in the arena including Jim Ross, went wild for the former Four Horsemen member. Even the Rock tweeted praise for the segment, which is quite a big deal for AEW.
Arn Anderson was fired from WWE earlier this year, after staying in a backstage role for quite some time. Anderson was reportedly let go after he allowed Alicia Fox to wrestle at a WWE Live Event even though she was intoxicated.
Anderson is working a backstage role with AEW as well, and expect several more run-ins by the WWE Hall of Famer. His spine-buster remains a thing of beauty, and the Enforcer dishing out spine-busters will definitely help AEW get over with the casual audiences.
