Backstage News On Bray Wyatt’s Universal Championship Match

‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt has wowed the audiences worldwide with his new character and he has apparently set his sights on the Universal Championship. WWE’s next PPV after Clash of Champions will be Hell in a Cell which will take place on October 6. The arena for the HIAC PPV advertised Bray Wyatt in a Universal Championship match yesterday, and Wyatt himself responded to this announcement.

On Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Melter confirmed that Wyatt will indeed be taking part in the Universal Championship match at Hell in a Cell. Meltzer noted that this was not just a gimmick for selling tickets for the show, and Wyatt will take on the winner of Strowman and Rollins. Dave Meltzer said the following on WON,

“For what it’s worth, and you know the drill with anything this far in advance, the WWE sent the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento info that the main event for the 10/6 PPV in that building would be the Rollins-Strowman winner at Clash of Champions defending the title against Wyatt in a Hell in a Cell match. I should point out that usually in this situation it’s just filler to advertise something to sell tickets. This is not the case here. The real plan at this point is for Wyatt to headline the show and challenge for the Universal title.”

Seth Rollins will be defending his Universal Championship against Braun Strowman at Clash of Champions, right after he defends his RAW Tag Team Titles alongside Strowman.

Bray Wyatt receiving a quick push into the main-event shouldn’t come as a surprise after his recent performances and popularity on social media. Wyatt previously won the WWE Championship in 2017 and held it for two months before dropping it to Randy Orton.

Could Wyatt interfere in the Rollins-Strowman match, which leads to a Triple Threat? Or will he wait until after the match to make his intentions known? Only time will tell.
