AJ Lee was once the longest reigning Divas Champion in history, but her record has been broken by Nikki Bella in the three years that she has been retired from the company and the former NXT star hasn’t hinted that she is looking to return to the ring.

It’s hard to imagine a historic pay-per-view that is made to honor the Women’s Division without AJ Lee since she was a huge part of why the Revolution has happened over the past few years.

Lee opted to retire from the company just days after WrestleMania 31 back in 2015 and has since released her Autobiography entitled “Crazy is my Superpower” which is now set to be made into a TV series in the coming months.

It was reported a few weeks ago that Vince McMahon himself reached out to AJ Lee about a return to be part of Evolution, but according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer the company and their former star are not even close to a deal and the idea of bringing Lee back “would sound very difficult given the circumstances,” he said via Ringsidenews.

AJ was recently part of the trial between her husband CM Punk and WWE doctor Chris Amann which could be why it’s so difficult for the company to strike up a deal with the former Champion.

There is still reportedly a lot of bad blood between Lee, WWE and CM Punk and this could be the reason why Lee isn’t able to make her return alongside many other female wrestlers who deserve to be part of the show.

It appears that this is the update that many of the former Champion’s fans didn’t want, but there are still two months until Evolution takes place so there is still a slim chance that WWE can find a way to persuade AJ to return for a one-off appearance.
