Tag Team Partners Will Go Head To Head At WrestleMania
The Miz and Shane McMahon won the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at the Royal Rumble last weekend and the two stars have seemingly been able to become a feasible Tag Team over the past few weeks, but it isn’t expected to stay that way.
Sports Illustrated’s Week In Wrestling Column updated the WWE Universe on the current situation regarding the SmackDown Commissioner and his former World Champion partner to point out that Shane McMahon was scheduled to face The Miz at WrestleMania.
It is thought that given the fact that McMahon has been teasing a heel turn ever since Survivor Series last year, he could be the star who turns heel in this scenario which would allow The Miz to continue the impressive work he has been doing as a face.
AJ Styles Contract Update
AJ Styles‘ WWE contract is up in April, but unlike Dean Ambrose the company hasn’t released an official update on his future since it’s still up in the air. It’s common knowledge that Styles has friends in All Elite Wrestling and would be a prime candidate for a switch over to the company, but Styles may not be heading down that route.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer addressed Styles’ current contract situation where he pointed out that even though AEW seems like the future for Styles, he looks as though he is going to be staying with WWE.
“Even though he (Styles) has friends in AEW he appears to be staying with WWE,” he said via Wrestling-Edge.
If any star was likely to be heading to AEW, it would be AJ Styles since The Phenomenal One is known to be looking for less time on the road so that he can spend it with his family. WWE could offer Styles a new contract that reflects this, but as of right now he is still yet to sign a new deal with the company.
