New Japan Pro Wrestling announced this week that President Harold Meij will be leaving the company in a month’s time.
Meij’s departure was linked to him not achieving the targets for the company, which was largely contributed by the losses from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fightful Select got hold of a few wrestlers from NJPW and gauged their reaction on this major exit.
One superstar noted that he was never on board with Meij’s vision, and hoped he worked harder on maintaining working relationships with other promotions, plausibly AEW and Impact.
Another star was willing to give Meij more time as his plans greatly suffered due to the pandemic.
Meij will be replaced by NJPW America in-charge Takami Ohbari on October 23rd.
