It was earlier reported that a lot of fans walked out during the main event of WWE Backlash on May 6, 2018, featuring Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe. Although Reigns scored the victory over his Samoan foe that night, it was a clear indication from the WWE Universe that they no longer consider Reigns as their favorite babyface, thus giving strong signals to the company about turning The Big Dog heel.
However, CEO of WWE, Vince McMahon seems to be indifferent at the behaviour of the audience walking out that night, and a backstage WWE guy revealed the following when asked about McMahon’s reaction to the issue in question:
“Look, there is work that needs to be done to get [Reigns] over but the whole idea that fans were walking out because they were protesting is absurd. Vince no sold it backstage and he chalked it up to the show running late until 11:30. Fans wanted to beat the traffic and kids needed to go to school on Monday. Simple as that. If Vince was upset he sure didn’t show it backstage. He wasn’t expecting this massive face reaction in the New York market. It was business as usual and it didn’t seem to bother him.”
This week on Monday Night RAW, the foundation stone for Reigns entering into a feud with Jinder Mahal was laid, giving clear signs that WWE still plans to have Reigns as the company’s top babyface.
