Bayley Calls Out WWE Legends For Match at SummerSlam

Bayley and Sasha Banks have turned the Women’s Tag Team Championships into the most prestigious titles in the company over the past few weeks. The Golden Role Models have wrestled on NXT, SmackDown, and Raw on a regular basis and have been able to step up to the main event level on Raw in recent weeks.

Last night, ahead of their match against The Kabuki Warriors, The Boss shared a video package celebrating The Role Models where they subtly stated that they were better than a number of WWE stars including Trish Stratus and Lita.

This was just a hint that many fans picked up on and expected this to later lead to a match if Evolution 2 was able to take place. SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley went a step further following the match, calling out the WWE Hall of Famers on Twitter and challenging them to a match at SummerSlam.

Stratus and Lita have returned and wrestled in recent years and it was well-known that Banks and Bayley wanted to wrestle the two women a few years ago but were never given the chance. With Brock Lesnar vs Drew McIntyre now off the table and Randy Orton vs Edge unable to take place, WWE needs to find a selling point for this year’s SummerSlam.

Like every other WWE show since March, SummerSlam will take place without a live audience from WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

It’s easy to believe that WWE could be planning to bring Trish and Lita back, but since Stratus said her farewells at SummerSlam last year when she lost to Charlotte, she could be much harder to convince.

Neither Trish nor Lita were actually tagged in the Tweet and are yet to respond, but this could be the company’s big SummerSlam selling point if they are able to make it a reality.
