SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch is the hottest Superstar in WWE at the moment. Despite her position currently being at the top of the ladder, it appears that the WWE Universe isn’t spending much on Lynch’s merchandise.
Brad Shepard while discussing Lynch’s merchandise sales on Oh, You Didn’t Know podcast revealed that while the top Superstar in WWE is synonymous with the most merchandise sales, that might not be the case with Becky.
“Becky Lynch’s merch picked up with her surge as The Man, there’s no question about that, but her shirt merchandise does and I quote, ‘Okay.’ So her t-shirt merchandise does okay? Is that what a top guy does, top girl, The Man? A mainstream star with Conor McGregor? Her merchandise is okay? What?!”
The reason why Lynch’s merch is doing “okay” could be attributed to the fact that her “The Man” t-shirts are just plain block letters printed on a black shirts and fans want a bit extra in terms of design or texture to spend that extra dime.
The Irish Lasskicker’s situation is really strange given how WWE’s top Superstars have continued to move the most merch in the company. Guys like John Cena, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Braun Strowman have recorded the most merchandise sales as the top dogs in WWE.
CM Punk who left WWE in 2014 and Jeff Hardy who made his return to the company in 2017 had also recorded significant/most merchandise sales during their golden days in the promotion.
The Man is set for a huge title defense against Charlotte Flair and Asuka this Sunday at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs and is currently the least favorite to retain the big blue belt at the event.
Lynch is currently a name that’s rumored to headline WrestleMania 35 with RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey in a singles match. Charlotte could also be added to that bout making it a Triple Threat scenario.
