Becky Lynch has had quite the journey over the past few months since the former NXT superstar has been able to climb into the main event picture ever since her match against Ronda Rousey at Hell in a Cell was canceled.
Lynch’s relationship with Seth Rollins has since become public knowledge and now the Irish star is seen as one of the main event superstars in WWE and still holds the accolade of being the first and only woman to pin Ronda Rousey back at WrestleMania.
Lynch is now considered to be one of the most popular female wrestlers on TV but The Man believes that she can do more. She recently sat down with ESPN, alongside star of Netflix’s GLOW, Alison Brie where she was able to share her plans for the future of the Women’s Division.
“Oh yeah, absolutely. What I wanted coming into this career was for women’s wrestling to be the coolest thing on TV. I wanted to change the term from “divas” to “women,” which we did three years ago. And I wanted to headline the main event at WrestleMania.”
“But I also wanted the audience to demand it, not because we were women but because they cared about our story more than any other story. And they did. Our women’s main event was at the end of a seven-hour show, and everybody stayed. That makes me super proud,” she said via Sportskeeda.
Lynch walks into a “Winners Take All” match this weekend at Extreme Rules where she could lose her Raw Women’s Championship without actually being pinned. Seth Rollins’ Universal Championship will also be on the line as part of their tag team match against Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin, which could be a catalyst to an implosion between Lynch and Rollins.
