WrestleMania 35 takes place on April 7, 2019, from the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
As per a new report, WWE is looking beyond Braun Strowman when it comes to the prestigious Universal Championship match at WrestleMania. According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, “there is a significant angle that is supposed to be part of his storyline going forward.” And that angle is supposed to involve two of RAW’s superior athletes – Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre.
As reported earlier, Universal Champion Brock Lesnar’s new contract runs through WrestleMania 35 and his match on April 7 will be the last one as per his current deal.
Rollins has the WWE Intercontinental Championship around his waist and threw some serious shade at The Beast on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. This makes the opening for The Kingslayer to be engaged in a feud with Lesnar in the near future.
McIntyre is currently the hottest star on the main roster besides Strowman. The Scottish Psychopath has the force with him and is currently being groomed for a big spot, if not biggest, in WWE. Hall of Famer Mark Henry recently predicted that McIntyre is set to become World Champion in 2019.
With Roman Reigns, Triple H, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn out of the scenario, next year’s WrestleMania needs some serious drawing power.
Reigns’ medical hiatus to fight against returning Leukemia also forced WWE to quickly come up with new storylines and for the time being abandon all the plans they had with Reigns as the top babyface heading into the Show of Immortals.
It turns out that the Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 35 might not be a typical 1-on-1 match afterall. If The Beast walks into ‘Mania with the title, he might be forced to defend it against three other dominant forces – Strowman, Rollins and McIntyre – in a Fatal 4-Way scenario.
