Paul Heyman served as the Executive Director of RAW for nearly a year, and during his time, he made several decisions that hugely impacted the way the red brand was presented.
Stars like Ricochet, Cedric Alexander, and Aleister Black were rumored to be ‘Paul Heyman Guys’ but the push for Richocet and Alexander fizzled out soon enough.
However, one of Heyman’s last major decisions as the Executive Director saw him pair up Bobby Lashley with MVP, which has been dubbed as a huge success. Lashley has delivered some of his best performances in his current run and has looked like an absolute monster alongside his mentor MVP.
Bobby Lashley appeared on D-Von Dudley’s Table Talk and gave more details on how Heyman green-lighted the Lashley-MVP pairing. Lashley said that his pairing with MVP is quite natural, as they are friends in real life and have worked together before in TNA.
Lashley added that Heyman randomly walked up to him one day, and asked whether he would like to work with MVP, to which Lashley immediately said yes. One thing led to another, and ‘The Hurt Business’ was established.
“Paul Heyman came over to me. He was like, ‘what do you think about MVP?’ I was like, ‘it’s a no-brainer. Yeah, I would like to work with MVP. I’ve worked with him in the past. What are we gonna do?’ He said, ‘I don’t know, but I think it’ll be good.’”
“Every week after that, people kept coming up to me saying something, but I didn’t know what it was gonna be. I was for it. Like I said, me and him are really good friends and whatever we do is more natural, which is contradicting to anything we did before. I think right now, it’s working really well, and I think it’s gonna be so much better.”
Paul Heyman may have been fired from his role, but his decision to put these two together has certainly left a mark and could end up with Lashley finally securing a World Title run for himself.
