Bobby Lashley has been one of WWE’s most talked-about stars in recent weeks for all of the wrong reasons. As a former MMA star and a former World Champion, Lashley has been pushed into a storyline that doesn’t allow him to use his wrestling skills since his current soap opera style angle has allowed him to boost his mic skills alongside Lana and Rusev.

Even though Lashley is getting nothing but negative attention for his current role, the former Intercontinental Champion is still hoping that a showdown with current WWE Champion Brock Lesnar could be on the cards in the future.

Lashley recently spoke to Sports Illustrated about the match that many fans believed he was brought back to WWE for a number of years ago and stated that this year could be the year.

“2020 is the year to make a run for that big match. People have been talking about how me and Brock (Lesnar) would be amazing, and there have been all kinds of different comparisons. If people want to hate me and put me as a heel against Brock, I’m 100% down for it. But at the same token, I think there is an opportunity for people to see what I’m doing with Lana and like it, and want to see me go after Brock. Regardless of anything else, that needs to happen.”

Lashley has been pushed into the spotlight thanks to his current role alongside Lana, but given how competitive The Almighty actually is, it’s easy to see Lashley wanting to step back in the ring at some point and be part of a meaningful storyline. Brock Lesnar’s Royal Rumble opponent is still yet to be determined, so Lashley could be in with a shout if he’s able to prepare himself in just three weeks.
