Hall of Famer Booker T recently talked about the sad news that AJ Styles will be out of action indefinitely with a shoulder injury.
Speaking on his podcast, The Hall of Fame With Booker T & Brad Gilmore, Booker noted that he’s going to miss being able to see Styles in the ring as he considered Styles one of “his guys.”
“AJ Styles is a guy that I can watch each and every time because he’s just that good. He is phenomenal,” said Booker.
According to Booker, Styles has proven to be someone who is very durable and has managed to always perform at a high level without getting hurt. He pointed out that, despite his long career, Styles has never really been so badly injured that he had to take substantial time off.
Styles was injured when taking the spear from Edge during the men’s Royal Rumble match. It has been announced that he will be absent from the ring “indefinitely”, though he has promised to be back by WrestleMania 36.
According to Booker, almost any wrestler would do whatever they can to ensure that they do not miss WrestleMania because of the big pay date it represents.
“I’ll tell you right now: if you’re sitting on the shelf and you’re thinking about a WrestleMania, it’s almost like some sort of divine intervention; you want to go find a witch doctor, anything to try to get you well because you know, at the end of the day, at WrestleMania, it’s a big check,” said Booker.
