With WWE’s upcoming pay-per-view event TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs less than a month away, Braun Strowman suffered an elbow injury on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW.
Strowman teamed up with Elias and Finn Balor to take on Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley in a 6-Man Elimination Tag Team Match. It was the first match of the night and things came to an abrupt end when McIntyre used a steel chair to break Strowman’s pin on Corbin.
The Dominator and the Scottish Psychopath continued their teamwork as they brutally assaulted The Monster with the steel chair. Lashley hit a devastating spear on Braun at the ringside. The Acting RAW General Manager then shattered Strowman’s right elbow steel step to steel step.
WWE soon confirmed the injury on its website:
“During tonight’s Six-Man Elimination Tag Team Match, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, and Acting Raw General Manager Baron Corbin brutally assaulted Braun Strowman and smashed The Monster Among Men’s right arm with the steel steps. WWE.com can confirm that Strowman sustained serious injuries in the attack, and is undergoing evaluation by WWE medical personnel to determine the extent of the damage.”
It’s still unclear whether the injury is kayfabe or real. Prior to the match, Stephanie McMahon had announced Braun vs. Baron for TLC to which Corbin had said that he would step in the ring with Strowman on December 16 only if he is able to make it to the show. This had caused most fans to believe that the injury is kayfabe.
It appears that WWE is trying to revisit the Triple H-Seth Rollins WrestleMania 33 storyline with Baron and Braun.
Strowman is the top babyface in the company in Roman Reigns’ absence and in order to get him really over, WWE seems to plan on “injured” Monster defeating the Lone Wolf at TLC, quite similar to how a “one-legged” Rollins defeated Triple H at WrestleMania.
