The first stipulation match of WWE’s upcoming pay-per-view event TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs was announced by Commissioner Stephanie McMahon during the opening segment of this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW.
Stephanie announced that Braun Strowman will be facing Acting General Manager Baron Corbin at TLC. If Corbin loses, he will be stripped off his role as Acting GM, if he wins he will become the permanent General Manager of RAW.
To make the match seem like a double-edged sword for both men, McMahon also announced that Strowman will be getting his Universal Championship rematch against Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble only if he defeats Corbin at TLC. Strowman then chose the stipulation: a typical TLC match.
Lesnar isn’t booked for TLC so WWE needed to get something for The Monster in December while keeping him in the title picture at the same time.
What’s interesting is the fact that the last two failed Money In The Bank winners will be battling each other come December 16.
Corbin and Strowman picked up their rivalry ever since The Lone Wolf screwed The Monster in the Universal Championship match against the Beast at Crown Jewel. Stephanie had asked Braun to stay on the same page as RAW till Survivor Series if he is to get his demands fulfilled.
At Survivor Series, Strowman threw Lio Rush on to Corbin since he wasn’t allowed to touch the Men’s Team Captain until the show was over. As soon as the Men’s RAW Team emerged victorious over their SmackDown counterparts (thanks to the total annihilation on part of The Monster), the Acting GM attacked Braun from behind and re-ignited their feud.
TLC takes place on December 16, 2018, from the SAP Center at San Jose, California, United States.
