WWE’s upcoming and final pay-per-view of 2018, TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs takes place this Sunday at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
During the buildup, WWE heavily pushed the idea that RAW’s General Manager-Elect Baron Corbin is going to win his TLC Match by forfeit on the ground that Braun Strowman may not be cleared to compete at Sunday’s event.
PWInsider reports that The Monster is currently scheduled to be at the SAP Center on December 16 which means a forfeit may not happen. Although there is still no word on whether Strowman is cleared to compete at TLC, the creative could always book a squash segment or match for both men. There are already 12 matches on the card which means at least one bout is going to end real quick.
Recent speculations suggest a squash match/segment where Strowman pops up to destroy Corbin who is in the ring, ranting about his victory by forfeit. This would essentially cause the match to be pushed back to a later date on RAW while keeping the WWE Universe in suspense regarding the future of Corbin’s managerial role.
According to WrestleVotes, Strowman isn’t likely to compete at TLC. The situation is so serious that WWE has replaced him with the returning John Cena. During WWE’s holiday tour, Cena will be wrestling in Braun’s place at several house shows.
WWE also needs a big name to boost ticket sales and the 16-time World Champion is the only man who has the star power to get the job done with a breeze.
The stipulation for the Strowman vs. Corbin TLC Match is that Braun will get his Universal Championship rematch against Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble if he can defeat Baron. However, Corbin will become the permanent General Manager of Monday Night RAW if he is able to defeat Strowman but a loss would cause the bald heel to lose his position as an authority figure.
