The British wrestling world woke up to the shocking news earlier today that OTT Wrestler Ryan Smile had passed away after losing his battle with mental health.
Smile was one of the faces behind short-lived UK promotion Lucha Forever alongside Will Ospreay a few years ago, before dropping off the wrestling radar.
Smile was one of the countries brightest stars and throughout his lengthy career, he was able to hold The RevPro Undisputed British Championship and The OTT No Limits Championship.
Smile had a well-documented battle with mental health problems and it was his wife, fellow British Wrestler Alex Windsor who led the tributes to the former Champion.
“‘I cannot believe I’m having to write these words… On Tuesday morning, Ryan passed away after losing his battle with mental health, a battle in which he had been fighting for a long time. ‘I can’t fathom the words to express how I’m feeling right now. To anyone who knew Ryan, whether through wrestling or on a personal level, it’s with an extremely heavy heart that I have to break this tragic news.’”
Some of the biggest names in the wrestling business have been paying their respects to the man who was known as the All Day Star.
There is currently a Go Fund Me account being set up by Joseph Carbery which is looking to raise money for Ryan’s wife Alice and his two-year-old son Harrison.
