Brodie Lee Claims His Character Is Inspired From Mafia Movies and Not Vince McMahon

Brodie Lee‘s ‘Exalted One’ character has generated huge buzz in the pro wrestling industry. Not only does the gimmick give off a mysterious vibe, but the same apparently happens to resemble his former boss, Vince McMahon.

Lee introduced himself as The Exalted One with a series of vignettes that apparently happened to be parodies of Mr. McMahon. From sneezing to yawning to maintaining a proper dress code, Lee has brought forth everything Mr. McMahon is infamously known for.

On Busted Open Radio, Lee revealed the real source of inspiration behind those Exalted One segments – it’s the former Superstar’s love for mafia movies that has made the character possible.

“Look, you take them however you want. I happen to be a fan of mafia movies, so that’s the way the character is portrayed for me. I believe the leadership style, the results speak for themselves. So, you can take it anyway you want.”

The Exalted One further explained that just because he so happened to pinpoint on a few of Mr. McMahon’s legendary mannerisms was simply a matter of coincidence.

“Trust me, I hear you. I hear everybody. None of that is intentional. I have no reason to hate WWE, no reason to hate Vince McMahon, nothing like that. You take it how you want.”

Co-Executive Vice President of AEW, Cody Rhodes previously discussed the same matter only to suggest that the vignettes were never meant to parody Mr. McMahon and there’s absolutely no intention to do so in the future.

The vignettes may have stopped for now but fans are actually craving to see more of those segments. The Exalted One videos have generated tremendous views on YouTube and it’s pretty clear that the former Superstar has found overnight success in his new character.

Lee will take on reigning AEW World Champion Jon Moxley this Sunday at Double Or Nothing.
