The 39-year-old brother of former WWE star Ashley Massaro was murdered in a random attack in New York City last month.
The New York Daily News reports that Ronnie Massaro was stabbed by a random assailant outside of 2 Bros Pizza in Manhattan on November 21st.
It was reported that Massaro had been struggling since his sister’s suicide back in May 2019 and had only recently left a rehab facility.
Family friend Keith Hanlon noted that Ronnie only checked out of rehab around 12 hours before the attack occured.
“He got out of rehab and got on the train. And that was it. Out of a program and on the train, and not even 12 hours later, he was gone.”
“He was ready to live life. Since his sister’s passing, I’d never noticed him have this voice. Something hit him. I really believe he started to accept things and understand what life was about, It finally hit me, and I’m ready. I can do this. We can do this together.’ Those were his exact words. I lost him in the Midtown tunnel. His last words were, ‘I’m about to hit the Midtown tunnel, I’ll call you.'”
Ashley Massaro won the 2005 Raw Diva Search but requested her release from WWE back in 2008 in order to look after her sick daughter. Massaro committed suicide last year after a lengthy struggle with depression.
