Cain Velasquez’s Brand Affiliation Post-WWE Draft, CM Punk Claims Acting Is More “Fun” Than WWE Schedule

Cain Velasquez will challenge arch-rival Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship in less than two weeks at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia.

Velasquez has signed a mega multi-year deal with WWE and his debut match is nothing less than a title showdown against The Beast himself. However, the 2-time former UFC Heavyweight Champion was not included in the 2019 Draft pool and is a free agent at present.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Velasquez is staying on Monday Night RAW “through the end of this month” with Rey Mysterio who was drafted to the red brand.

“The only thing we were told is that he’s with Rey Mysterio through the end of the month. In theory that means Raw, but Brock Lesnar is on SmackDown.”

The fact that RAW’s Cain has challenged SmackDown’s Brock for the WWE Title has raised questions about his actual brand affiliation. Since the Universal Championship is to stay on RAW, and the WWE Championship on SmackDown, it only makes sense that Cain will be switching over to The Blue Show once he parts ways with Mr.619 if he’s to continue his title feud with The Beast post-Crown Jewel.

Meanwhile, longest-reigning WWE Champion of The Modern Era, CM Punk has made a bold comparison between his previous WWE schedule and current Hollywood routine.

While promoting his upcoming horror film “Girl On The Third Floor” on WGN, Punk said he had more fun acting than working a hectic WWE schedule.

“Working for WWE and doing live TV every day of your life is a lot. It’s high pressure, so having the ability to do multiple takes, to do multiple, different angles of things and stuff… I’m not going to say it made it easier because there are definitely challenges to it, but it made it fun.”
