Carmella’s ‘friend’ James Ellsworth was fired this week on SmackDown Live, which meant that the Women’s Champion was forced to face Becky Lynch alone. The Irish Lasskicker picked up the win over The Princess of Staten Island after she locked in The Disarm-Her and forced the champion to tap.
This now means that Lynch will now fight for the Women’s Championship at SummerSlam, but the Champion also picked up a minor injury in this match which could see her forced out of this weekend’s live events since it is unknown as to whether or not she will be cleared in time to compete.
Carmella was seen with blood in her mouth midway through the match earlier this week, which was later confirmed to be because she suffered a busted lip after an attack from Lynch. Carmella herself later responded to a fan on Twitter who asked about her status for this weekend’s live events and she stated that she may not be medically cleared to compete but hopefully, her lip will be healed in time and she will be able to be part of the show.
I’m not sure if I will be medically cleared to compete. Hopefully my lip will be healed by then. Crossing my fingers. ?? https://t.co/CQq4f1OMiZ

Carmella defends her Women’s Championship against Lynch at SummerSlam in less than three weeks time, but it’s thought that this injury isn’t a major one and she will be back on SmackDown Live next week.
Carmella and Becky Lynch already have history, it was the Irish star who was part of the storyline with James Ellsworth before he was released from the company last year, but interestingly, WWE has opted to fire Ellsworth ahead of Carmella’s match with Lynch at SummerSlam, which means that she will be forced to defend her title alone.
