TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs takes place this Sunday night and WWE has left it late to announce one of the night’s most anticipated matches.
Over the past 12 years, Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio have had a storied history dating all the way back to 2006 when Mysterio won The Rumble by last eliminating Orton.
The Viper was then pinned by Mysterio at WrestleMania 22 and the Littlest Big Man became World Champion for the first time. Mysterio and Orton were then sworn enemies for a number of years until Rey left the company back in 2015, but they have since been able to pick up where they left off.
A few weeks ago, Mysterio faced Orton on SmackDown Live and The Legend Killer took Mysterio’s mask off and left the arena holding it aloft.
The former World Champion was then left scrambling to cover his face and will now be given a chance to exact some revenge when he faces Orton at TLC in a Chairs match.
This means that their contest will be a traditional one-on-one match, but the use of chairs will be legal. WWE usually includes a chairs match in the show since there is now already a Tables match between Natalya and Ruby Riott and a Ladder match between Elias and Bobby Lashley.
There are also set to be two TLC matches as the women of SmackDown Live make history as part of the first ever women’s TLC match between Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Asuka as the three women battle it out for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, whilst Baron Corbin and Braun Strowman settle their differences in the brutal match with Corbin’s future as General Manager on the line.
This match announcement now means that there are 12 matches on the card for this weekend’s show with every main roster Championship on the line except for the Raw Tag Team Championships, Universal Championship and United States Championship.
