Chris Jericho Hopes Released WWE Superstars Will Get Employed in Other Promotions, Unaware of AEW’s Plan

WWE made several cuts across the board on April 15th to recover from the financial damages suffered because of the coronavirus pandemic. Hundreds of WWE employees have already lost their jobs during these difficult and unprecedented times, and more firings could be on the way now that the company is willing to let go of “just about anyone” who requests his/her release.

AEW has always stood as the better alternative to WWE, and as a result, many Superstars have viewed the upstart promotion as their most reliable fallback. Unfortunately, the coronavirus situation has severely hit the pro wrestling business and consequently, AEW may not be in a position to sign whoever they wish at present.

During a recent interview with TV Insider, former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho noted that this is indeed an interesting time in the pro wrestling business.

“It’s an interesting time right now because a lot of guys got released. By proxy, you went from a business that was very profitable in many different levels to everything grinding to a halt. Hopefully, many of them will get picked up by different companies.”

While Jericho is unaware of what AEW has planned for anyone who recently became a free agent, he believes that everybody who has lost their jobs will eventually end up working for different companies, be it in the United States or overseas (Japan).

“Some guys may have to go overseas. I don’t know what AEW has planned. That’s not really my wheelhouse. But I’m sure everybody is going to land where they should land. It’s just how it goes.”

The latest rumors suggest that The Revolt (Dax Hardwood & Cash Wheeler) and Matt Cardona (fka Zack Ryder) are definitely going to land in AEW. As for the other WWE talents who have been handed the pink slip, we sincerely hope everyone lands on their feet and gets signed somewhere.
