Former AEW World Heavyweight Champion and leader of the Inner Circle, Chris Jericho, had a confrontation with former Heavyweight Boxing Champion Mike Tyson during the last episode of Dynamite.
During a guest appearance on Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca’s Busted Open podcast, Jericho talked about his confrontation with Tyson and what it might lead to.
“What a great time it was, Iron Mike was great,” said Jericho. “For the second time in my career, I’m a completely crazy dude standing face to face with Iron Mike Tyson, which cause quite a stir.”
According to Jericho, he sees the confrontation with Tyson and the fans’ reaction to it as a set up for a match in the future.
“Tyson vs Jericho in any aspect, whenever we decide to do something, there’s some money there,” he said.
“If we can do something in the future, another confrontation, a wrestling match, boxing match, street fight, checkers game between Mike Tyson and Chris Jericho,” he said. “That’s my goal and dream is to do that and I think after [AEW Dynamite] with the buzz that was created.”
Jericho repeated his comments about being eager for “any type of program” with Tyson during another interview, this time with Sports Illustrated.
He told Sports Illustrated that he was hoping for either a boxing match or a street fight.
“We’ll never do a boxer vs wrestler,” declared Jericho. “Either we’ll do a straight up boxing match—I’m not kidding. So what if I’m knocked out by Mike Tyson? I’ve been knocked out by worse — or we’ll do a street fight.”
“Right now, the match is secondary to the pomp and circumstance that we will have in getting to the spectacle of the pay per view. That’s what wrestling is all about, it’s the story,” he added.
