9-time WWE Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho has been “all in” with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and was crowned the IWGP Intercontinental Champion when he defeated Tetsuya Naito at Dominion 6.9 a couple of months ago.

According to Wrestling Inc, on an edition of Talk Is Jericho , the first-ever WWE Undisputed Champion spilled the beans of having pitched the idea of coming back to WWE for one more match to face the company’s Intercontinental Champion at SummerSlam.

Y2J said,

“I placed a call to a certain head of a certain wrestling company, let’s just leave it at that.

“I said I’ve got something for you. It’s boffo box office. I said, what do you think about first-time Intercontinental Champion vs Intercontinental Champion, Jericho vs Rollins?”

Jericho also revealed that he planned on surprisingly showing up at the last episode of RAW before SummerSlam and attack Seth Rollins to set up the dream match.

The 6-time World Champion also added that the finish to the dream match would feature an outside interference resulting in a disqualification.

Even though some officials at WWE gave a thumbs up to Jericho’s plan, the idea never materialised and Rollins went on to face Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam.

The Kingslayer regained the Intercontinental Title from Ziggler with a little help from his Shield brother Dean Ambrose who made his much anticipated return to WWE after 9 months at RAW before SummerSlam.

Jericho’s last WWE appearance was at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia last April where he competed in the first ever 50-Man Royal Rumble Match that was eventually won by Braun Strowman.

The Lionheart has been working actively in Japan where he also faced Kenny Omega in an epic match at Wrestle Kingdom 12 that was awarded a 5-Star rating by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.
