Reigning IWGP Intercontinental Champion and WWE icon Chris Jericho is the biggest free agent in the professional wrestling business right now. In a career spanning over 25 years – ECW, WCW, WWF/WWE, NJPW – Jericho has seen it all.
During a recent interview with Dalby on 104.9 The Wolf, the 9-time WWE Intercontinental Champion confirmed talks with top pro wrestling promotions namely Impact Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
“I think that’s one cool things about this whole year is it’s really given fans of Jericho a lot to be happy about and a lot to look forward to, lots of surprises from the Kenny Omega match last year to us talking today. The best thing is I don’t know what I’m going to do. There’s nothing set in stone.”
“I have spoken to people in all those organizations that you mentioned (AEW, NJPW, & Impact Wrestling). Impact, I had a great conversation with them the other day in Toronto, there’s some great matches I could have there, and why wouldn’t I go if it was right? There are a lot of matches in Japan I would still like to have.”
Y2J seems to be pretty open regarding his future “collaborations” as far as his in-ring commitments are concerned.
Jericho also confirmed the rumored upcoming “All Elite Wrestling” promotion during his interview.
“Is Tony Khan opening his own company? I have heard nothing that says he’s not.”
AEW, led by Tony Khan, is the hot professional wrestling promotion that’s been reported to go live by late 2019 or early 2020 provided the company is able to ink a major television deal by that timeframe. Tony is the son of Jacksonville Jaguars owner, Shahid Khan, the U.S. billionaire who also owns Fulham F.C.
Jericoholics all across the globe should keep their fingers crossed as 2019 is likely going to be a very exciting year for Chris Jericho.
