The inaugural AEW Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho recently gave an interview to WhatCulture Wrestling’s Adam Wilbourn where he talked about WWE talent showing up in AEW.

Jericho, who made his name on WCW and WWE, is very familiar with many recent WWE talent and he told Wilbourn that if he had a wish list for WWE talent to get into AEW it bout be Roman Reigns.

“Not only is he a great worker, he’s such a cool guy,” said Jericho. “If they just let him be him, he’d be the biggest star in the industry. That’s a guy I’d love to get my hands on for sure.”

Before talking about Reigns, however, Jericho stated that AEW is more interested in building their own stars rather than taking on talent that the WWE had let go.

“We need to build stars, this is not a place where anybody in the WWE can just show up. We’re very selective on who we take on,” he said.

Jericho also talked about how, with so many talent let go by the WWE in April as part of cost-cutting due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are speculating about which of these would end up in AEW.

According to Jericho, AEW isn’t really interested in any of the recently released talent.

“Nothing against anybody involved because they’re very talented, but there’s nobody on that list that we’re looking at,” he said.

While AEW may not be interested in too many WWE talents, Jericho pointed out that the WWE talent that they did take in were given opportunities to be totally different from their WWE incarnations and are thriving that way.

“Look at Moxley now, it’s a different guy, look at Brodie Lee, they wouldn’t even put him on TV for the last eight months and now he’s headlining PPVs and kicking ass doing it,” he said.
