There were rumors that Christian would be part of the feud between the returning Edge and Randy Orton, but as we know, it did not happen.

Edge made a surprise return to WWE this year at the Royal Rumble, after which he entered into a feud with his former tag team partner Randy Orton.

The feud with Orton, which culminated in a Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania 36, saw the Viper personally attacking Edge – including attacking Edge’s wife Beth Phoenix. There was some talk then that Orton might go after Christian as well or that Christian would come to Edge’s aid in some way.

Edge and Christian are one of the most successful tag teams in WWE history and are also real life best friends. As such, it would seem logical that Orton’s personal attacks on Edge might involve Christian in some way.

However, according to Christian, he wasn’t in plans for the storyline due to the fact that he’s no longer considered fit for physical involvement in the ring.

Christian told Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT that he is on the WWE’s “no contact list” since he retired from in-ring competition in 2014. His retirement was brought about due to his history of suffering from concussions.

“I just think with the way it played and obviously with me on the non-contact list, kinda makes that..can’t really do that. It would have been, but because of the current situation, it just didn’t,” said Christian.
