Former UFC Lightweight Champion <a href="https://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Chuck-Liddell-192" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Chuck Liddell (opens in a new tab)">Chuck Liddell</a> has officially announced his retirement from MMA after showcasing stupendous fights throughout his long, illustrious career. 



During a recent interview with <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lazUzkePZc" target="_blank">TMZ Sports</a>, the UFC Hall Of Famer declared that he&#8217;s retired, at least for now.

Technically, this is the second time that Liddell has gone into retirement; at the UFC 125 press conference in 2010, the MMA star had announced his first retirement from the sport. However, it&#8217;s extremely unlikely for the 50-year-old fighter to make a comeback this time around &#8211; in 2013, Liddell himself had stated that there was a possibility of one last comeback, similar to George Foreman, and his last fight with Tito Ortiz was most certainly his final time inside the Octagon.



In 2018, Liddell came out of retirement for a third fight with Ortiz. Despite defeating The Huntington Beach Bad Boy on two previous occasions, The Ice Man failed to get the job done on their third encounter as he lost to his arch-rival via knockout in the first round of his return match. Following his retirement from UFC in 2010, Chuck served as the Executive Vice President of Business Development of the company but was released when WME-IMG acquired the UFC in 2016.



With a 21-9 record, Liddell is still considered as one of the finest athletes to ever step foot in the Octagon. The Californian fighter still holds the record for the most knockouts in UFC light heavyweight division history (10).



It appears that deep down in his heart, Liddell isn&#8217;t quite done with combat sports. As a matter of fact, he has candidly expressed his willingness to get back into the squared circle in the context of professional wrestling if the opportunity comes along. It is to be noted that Chuck has an extensive striking background in Kenpo, Karate, Kickboxing, including a grappling background in collegiate wrestling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.



On being asked whether he would like to work with WWE, Liddell happily entertained the idea at once and even showed his keen interest to work a dream match with <a href="https://api.wrestlingworld.co/wrestler/dwayne-the-rock-johnson-height-age-wife-affairs-movies-theme-song-net-worth-wwe/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Dwayne &quot;The Rock&quot; Johnson (opens in a new tab)">Dwayne &#8220;The Rock&#8221; Johnson</a>.

Over the years, a lot of UFC, MMA, and boxing stars have had the privilege of performing in WWE, namely, Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, Cain Velasquez, Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Shayna Baszler and Matt Riddle. Given their transition from one world to another, it remains to be seen whether Vince McMahon can negotiate a deal with Liddell now that The Ice Man has publicly shown interest in becoming a WWE Superstar.
