<p><a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="CM Punk's return to WWE programming (opens in a new tab)" href="https://api.wrestlingworld.co/news/cm-punk-returns-to-wwe-joins-the-team-of-wwe-backstage-full-time/" target="_blank"><strong>CM Punk</strong>&#8216;s return to WWE programming</a> earlier this week was a major surprise for the wrestling community and led to questions of a possible return to in-ring competition. Punk was officially announced as the newest member of the <strong>WWE Backstage</strong> show, and he&#8217;ll share a rotating role, similar to Paige and Christian.</p>



<p>WWE on FOX&#8217;s Youtube channel released a new behind-the-scenes video of CM Punk&#8217;s debut on the FS1 show on Tuesday. It followed Punk&#8217;s journey from his hotel to the FOX studios and his eventual debut during the closing moments of the show.</p>

<p>During his ride to the FOX Studios, Punk went on to talk about how the deal with FOX came in place. He said he was approached by FOX to join in an analyst role, similar to A-Rod for baseball, we have Troy Aikman for football.</p>



<p>Punk initially believed it was a commentary gig and was skeptical of calling wrestling matches. Later on, when he found out it was a different role, he was excited. Punk even talked about doing a test run, which he had talked about in an interview earlier.</p>

When they told me it was going to be like an analyst, and it was described by FOX executives as, &#8216;We have A-Rod for baseball, we have Troy Aikman for football, we now have WWE&#8217;s property starting in November, we&#8217;re going to have an analyst show, and we have you. You would be the &#8216;expert&#8217; to speak on things because your authority is, you were there, you did it all, you can talk about it.&#8217;<br></p></blockquote>

<p>CM Punk admitted to being nervous about returning to the wrestling industry, as he had spent more than five years away from this business.</p>

<p>Although Punk talked about his deal with FOX, there could still be a possibility of him appearing on either SmackDown or RAW in the near future. With Survivor Series set to take place from Punk&#8217;s hometown of Chicago, there is a high chance we could see the former WWE Champion return to the squared circle.</p>
