CM Punk Jokes About His WWE Release On Social Media

CM Punk hasn’t been part of WWE since the Royal Rumble back in 2014 when he walked away from the company and was later fired for breach of contract. The former World Champion made all of this information public as part of Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling Podcast where he ranted about WWE for more than an hour and was later sued by WWE’s doctor for his comments.

Interestingly, Punk went on to win this lawsuit and has since been linked with a return to WWE because FOX themselves wanted the former Champion to be part of WWE Backstage which premiered last night.

Punk reportedly recently traveled to Los Angeles to film an audition for the Network and it was so well received that it was expected that he would be offered the job. Nothing has been mentioned about his return to the company following these rumors since Renee Young and Booker T were the hosts on the show’s debut on FOX last night.

It’s been five years since CM Punk was fired from WWE on his wedding day back in April 2014, and it appears that finally, the former Champion is willing to joke about it. Eric Bischoff has been making headlines this week after it was revealed that he had been replaced as Executive Director of SmackDown by Bruce Prichard.

Bischoff’s Twitter page for his 83 Weeks Podcast posted Tweet to plug their new “Fired” t-shirts, which they said was unrelated to Bischoff’s recent WWE departure. Punk decided to respond with humor since he himself was once “fired” from the company.

Punk received his termination papers from the company back in 2014 via FedEx and it appears that the design on these shirts is very similar to the FedEx logo and could be linked to Punk’s departure from WWE rather than Eric’s.
